Sedbergh Schools Group welcomed more than 350 children on Monday 20 July for the opening week of Sedbergh Courses, the first of three weeks of residential sport and activity programmes delivered across the summer.
More than 1,000 children from across the UK and overseas will take part in Sedbergh Courses this summer, reflecting the continued growth of the programme and the role it plays within the wider Sedbergh Schools Group.
The opening week includes rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, athletics and other specialist courses, supported by experienced coaches and operational teams. Participants follow structured programmes designed to develop skills, confidence and independence, while also experiencing the friendships, routines and sense of community that come with residential life.
The courses make use of Sedbergh’s facilities, boarding environment and outdoor setting, offering children a programme that combines coaching, activity and pastoral support. Children of different ages, backgrounds and abilities are brought together in a shared environment where they are encouraged to work hard, take part fully and support one another.
Course Director Jason Duffy said:
“To welcome more than 350 children in the opening week is a strong start to the summer and reflects the work that goes into planning and delivering Sedbergh Courses across the Group.
“Our aim is to provide a well-structured, supportive experience where children can develop their skills, grow in confidence and enjoy being part of a residential community. It is always rewarding to see how much they gain from the week, both in their sport and in themselves.”
Sedbergh Courses is a significant part of the Group’s year-round educational offer, extending the use of its sites, facilities and expertise beyond term time and creating opportunities for children to experience Sedbergh through sport, activity and residential learning.
